Rachel's Kids financed the annual trip and the purchase of new counselling materials for abused children at the Children's Treatment Centre in Cornwall
The Children's Treatment Centre was founded in response to the recent growing awareness in North America of the existence, extent and impact of child abuse. This social problem is now seen to be widespread, negatively affecting children, families and society as a whole. Abusive incidents are almost always traumatic for a child, impairing his or her ability to grow and cope with life in a healthy manner. When the abuse goes undetected and its victim(s) untreated, this impairment can continue into the child's adult years.
